The Scarrow 1.6m Arena Harrow is a tow-behind arena maintenance machine designed for regular use on sand and fibre horse arenas, manèges and other suitable equestrian riding surfaces.
With a 1.6 metre working width and ball hitch attachment, this model is designed for use behind suitable quads, ATVs and UTVs, making it a practical choice for private equestrian properties, livery yards and riding schools.
The Scarrow helps loosen compacted tracks, redistribute displaced surface material and level hoof marks and minor irregularities created through regular riding.
At 1.6 metres wide, this Scarrow provides useful working coverage while remaining manoeuvrable around smaller horse arenas, private yards and equestrian properties.
The tow-behind configuration makes it particularly suitable for yards where a quad, ATV or UTV is already used for routine land and paddock maintenance.
Unlike tractor-mounted 3-point-linkage Scarrow models, this version uses a ball hitch, making it a dedicated tow-behind setup.
Regular riding naturally moves sand and fibre material, particularly around tracks, corners, gateways and frequently used areas.
The Scarrow 1.6m Arena Harrow helps work and redistribute suitable loose surface material, reducing minor ridges, hoof marks and uneven areas and helping maintain a more consistent finish across the arena.
Regular shallow maintenance can also help prevent displaced material becoming concentrated in particular parts of the riding surface.
The Scarrow is designed for equestrian users who need a straightforward way to maintain suitable riding surfaces using a quad, ATV or UTV.
Typical applications include:
This model is fitted with a ball hitch for attachment to a compatible towing vehicle.
This makes the 1.6m Scarrow particularly useful for equestrian properties using a quad, ATV or UTV for everyday yard and land-maintenance work.
Always check that the towing vehicle, hitch and operating conditions are suitable for the implement before use.
The frequency of arena maintenance will depend on the type of surface, how often the arena is used and local conditions.
Busy riding schools and livery yards may need to harrow more frequently than a lightly used private arena. Regular maintenance can help prevent displaced loose material from becoming concentrated in particular areas and makes it easier to maintain a more even finish.

A great feature is being able to lift the harrow clear of the ground when we’ve finished. We can leave the arena without dragging any surface out through the gateway. A really practical bit of kit!
The lift-up feature is a real bonus. Once we’ve finished harrowing, we can head out through the gate without pulling sand and fibre onto the yard. Very handy!
Does a lovely job in the arena, and lifting it clear of the surface to leave is so convenient. A thoughtful feature that makes a difference every time we use it.
The horses make the divots, this tidies them up—and we can lift it before leaving rather than starting a second arena outside the gate. Brilliant bit of kit!
Does a cracking job on the arena, then lifts clear so we don’t take half the surface back to the yard! The sand stays put, and there’s one less job with the broom.
What a clever idea! Does a great job on the arena, then lifts clear when we’ve finished—so we don’t take half the surface home with us. Brilliant bit of kit!
As a woman maintaining my own arena, I’ve found this harrow straightforward to use. The lift-up feature is especially handy when leaving through the gate. A clever design that makes the job easier.
